HandS X TYO

TYO’s ceramic tableware collection was specially designed for the restaurant, inspired by the cultural world and culinary approach of its chef, Yama San. The project involved the development of a comprehensive collection of over 20 unique pieces, each carefully considered in relation to function, durability, and the fast-paced rhythm of a working kitchen.

The design process balanced practical constraints with the desire to elevate the dining experience, exploring how form, texture, and scale can enhance the way food is presented and perceived. Particular attention was given to creating an added experiential value through the objects themselves, not only as serving tools, but as active participants in the meal.

The collection integrates playful and unexpected elements, inviting new forms of interaction between the guest, the tableware, and the dining experience. Subtle variations, surprising details, and tactile qualities encourage engagement, aiming to transform each dish into a more dynamic and memorable encounter.
